Matching the color of dental crowns to discolored tooth abutment is a tough challenge in modern dentistry. When a tooth abutment is discolored—due to staining, injury, or previous treatments—it can be hard to make a crown that looks natural and blends well with the surrounding teeth. The difficulty comes from several factors: the original color of the tooth, the type of discoloration, and the materials used for the crown. Although new materials and techniques have made it easier to match colors, getting a perfect match is still not always possible. This can affect the overall look of the dental work.
To treat correctly external resorptions it is essential to know how to correctly diagnose them.
A 60 years old male came to our office due to abrasion and erosion he had on the front teeth. The involved teeth were vital and without any symtomps. The intra-oral examination showed an important abrasion of the vestibular face of the two central incisors, while radiographic examination showed no problems on the pulp and the […]
The reconstruction of an anterior tooth is always a challenge, since the aesthetic requirements of our patients are high and we have to take into account several aspects, such as the shape, the macro and micro anatomy of the tooth, its color, the translucency and we also have to recreate a correct proximal contact. In […]
Modern dentistry requires to pay great attention to the color analysis of an anterior tooth when a direct composite restoration is planned. Even small details, such as a particular characterization of the incisal margin, can make the difference in the success of our treatment. On the other hand, if want to recreate natural looking posterior reconstructions, there […]
Rehabilitating endodontically treated teeth that have partially maintained coronal structure with overlay is nowadays the gold standard. Adhesive dentistry has changed the way we approach these cases: the goal is to maintain the coronal structure that has not been removed during caries removal and during root canal therapy. Adhesives and composites have permitted more conservative […]
Adhesive dentistry changed the way we approach the rehabilitation of endodontically treated teeth. Adhesives and composites have permitted more conservative protocols for repairing severely damaged teeth by reducing the invasiveness that was historically involved with the ‘’classic’’ prosthetic approach. In particular, direct restoration are the most conservative approach of the modern dentistry and in some […]
Adhesive dentistry changed the way we approach the rehabilitation of endodontically treated teeth. Adhesives and composites have permitted more conservative protocols for repairing severely damaged teeth by reducing the invasiveness that was historically involved with the ‘’classic’’ prosthetic approach. The limit of the adhesive approach lies in our ability to be able to isolate the […]
A 10 yrs old female came to our office due to a trauma he had some months before. The involved tooth was a non vital immature permanent upper incisor: the intra-oral examination showed swelling and an unaesthetic restoration, while radiographic examination showed open apex with incomplete root formation. One of the main objective in case […]
