The patient, 72, had these crowns a few years earlier and had no desire to remove them. Tooth 4.5 had already been treated, but it was the only one that caused him pain.
After retreatment and the pain subsided, it was decided to rebuild with a post because it is not possible to accurately assess the amount of residual dentin under a crown. The oval shape of the canal suggested using a polygonal post, which fit perfectly. Then, given the limited access cavity, it was decided to rebuild the crown with composite material and only replace it if necessary. The case is currently 6 years old.
